Midweek Bible Study Romans 7:14-25, 8:1-4
Tonight we are looking at the last half of Romans 7 and the first 4 verses of Romans 8. Paul is still building his argument but is now bringing it all around for us to understand. By the end of chapter 7 I imagine Paul can barely hold his excitement. “Who will rescue me?” Jesus!! “Christ challenged and defeated sin on its own turf- in the human sphere- as a true human of flesh and blood.” William Greathouse. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2

Jesus Has A Better Kingdom
Whether you’re dealing with King Xerxes or are in the world today, the kingdoms we establish for ourselves pale in comparison to the kingdom of God! When we live by the patterns of this world, we lie to ourselves and do what we want, rather than follow after the way of Jesus. Let Jesus lead you to repent of sin and follow Him!

Midweek Bible Study Romans 7:1-13
Paul once again reminds us that if we are still in relationship with sin we can’t have a full relationship with Christ. Paul goes into some “I” statements that are true for us as well before we come into a full relationship with Christ.

Jesus is a Better King
God is present in our lives, even when we don’t see him or feel him. The story of Esther can help us see ourselves in each of the characters. The first one, King Xerxes, shows us how we can be caught up in our own pursuit of fame, power, and wealth. King Xerxes thought of himself as the greatest king, but Jesus is the better King!

Midweek Bible Study - Romans 6:15-23
Paul continues on to ask if we are unconditionally at God’s disposal? Will we volunteer to be used as he sees fit? Sometimes God will take us out of our comfort zone so we can grow. We need to be okay with that. What do you think Paul would say to Christians today regarding this?

Peace be with you
The first Easter the disciples were locked in a room together fearful. Jesus met them there and reminded they can have peace. We can have peace in the midst of fear as well because God is God. Jesus defeated death, and with that gave us a gift of peace and of the Holy Spirit. We have a firm foundation to stand upon. HE HAS RISEN!

Good Friday
Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, the day on which we annually observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. From the early days of Christianity, Good Friday was observed as a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting, a characteristic that finds expression in the German word Karfreitag (“Sorrowful Friday”).

Maundy Thursday
It is the the last Thursday before Easter. A day when the Christian church commemorates the Last Supper. The word Maundy comes from the Latin word Mandatum, which means Commandment. In John 13: 34-35, Jesus issues this command to his disciples: A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
